The principal condition to be observed if you want to operate successful web pages is their good applicability, combined with accessible and quality contents. However, if you want to make it easy for the user to search for the website, it is necessary to perform the search engine optimization, i.e. the SEO.  The purpose of SEO is to reach a more convenient position of the web pages in a fulltext search engine, for example in Google.

Website accessibility is a feature stipulated by the law which specifies the individual aspects of the website and thus makes sure that the web is accessible to disabled people (law no. 365/2000 Coll.), in compliance with the so called Blind Friendly Initiative. Website applicability is an indicator which shows how easily the users get acquainted with the website, how easy or difficult it is for them to find their way through its pages, how fast they grasp its arrangement, how they handle its operation and what general impression the pages make on them.

Why is website applicability so important

Well-applicable web pages are those which are well arranged and easy to understand and manipulate with. It is pleasant to work with such pages. On contrary, badly-applicable pages confuse their users who subsequently leave them disappointed as they were not able to find what they were looking for. Website applicability is a feature which can show you why many users do put selected items in their shopping carts but just a very few of them actually place their orders. In case a website is difficult to use, people leave it. If the home page does not contain clear information on what the website is all about and what can be accomplished, people leave. If website users get lost, they give up and leave. If the information displayed on the website is difficult to read or does not contain the answers to the users´ questions, they leave. Why not? There are certain rules for website creation the application of which results in better performance, i.e. in more visits to the website. These rules apply especially to the website contents, the use of keywords and phrases and website graphics, but they also apply to the purity of the program-code and the technical aspects of the website. Globally speaking, this procedure is called website optimization for search engines (SEO – Search Engine Optimization). The SEO is a highly efficient method by means of which you can reach a prominent position of the website in the search engines. The SEO´s nature is partly that of a science and partly that of an art. 

What can be achieved by SEO?

A good position of the website brings more targeted visitors. It is better to have fewer visitors who are clear on what they are looking for than have many visitors who leave quickly.

  • Increase the number of visits
  • Increase the competitiveness of the website
  • Improve the quality of the website
  • Improve the accessibility and applicability of the website
  • Acquire new visitors who have so far not been able to find the website 
SEO does not mean the following:
  • Mere registration in catalogues and search engines
  • Sending multiple/large scale e-mails
  • Producing as many keywords as possible in order to make oneself more visible
  • Including more data in the source code of the website (meta tags)
  • Inventing tricks to be applied in search engines
